报告简介:The evolution of compact, light-weight, low-power, and high-quality displays has caused a large demand for liquid crystal display (LCD) drivers, with features such as low cost, low power dissipation, high speed, and high resolution. Achieving a higher color depth in LCD drivers requires a higher DAC resolution with a larger circuit die area. Also because of the stringent display uniformity requirement, a resistor-string DAC (RDAC) is predominantly used in LCD column drivers. However, the area of the RDAC and its related routing lines is prohibitively large for a high-resolution data converter, rendering it impractical for using conventional column driver ICs in high color depth displays.

In this talk, I will briefly introduce the fundamental operation of TFT-LCD and the architecture of TFT-LCD driver system. Then I will present several compact and state-of-the-art driver ICs.
